Freelance Work

Over the past couple of years there has been an uptick in freelance work.  The go-getter understands there is no need for this work; he was indeed stripped of his titles but was never jailed

How's it going? Please.

When waiting in a line, let's say to scan into the gym (gotta out run those problems, call back!), a pretty standard exchange is asking each other how it's going.

Gym Employee: How's it going?

Gym Patron 1: Good, you?

Gym Employee: Good

First of all guys it's going well.  Second of all, the rest of that is fine.  But the below is not okay:

Gym Employee: How's it going?

Gym Patron 1: Good, you?

Gym Employee: Good

Gym Employee: How's it going?

Gym Patron 2: Good, you?

Gym Employee: Good

Gym Patron 2 what are you doing?  You just heard Gym Employee tell Gym Patron 1 they are doing good...even though they are doing well.  Why not get some new information?  The below is a much better exchange:

Gym Employee: How's it going?

Gym Patron 1: Good, you?

Gym Employee: Good

Gym Employee: How's it going?

Go-Getter: It's going pretty well.  Do you think ketchup is an appropriate condiment for a hot dog?

Gym Employee: Good....wait, what?

The go-getter likes to learn new things about people.  They also know that most gym employees don't have strong feelings regarding hot dog condiments.  Most.

Out Running Problems

You can't out run your problems.  Unless your problems move at less than like 6-7 MPH...then maybe you can.  The go-getter runs regularly just in case they have some problems they can out run.  These are almost always related to slow dogs.

Whine

It's rude to say "would you like some cheese with that whine" unless they have the goods to back it up.  A go-getter won't say this unless they have cheese on them just in case the person would actually like some to go with their whine.

FUN FACT:  The go-getter's annual cheese spend is nearly double that of the general population.  This makes the dairy aisle a great place to recruit!

Heat

Running at noon on a day it's supposed to hit 100 degrees is a mistake, one that probably shouldn't be made a third time.  The go-getter leaves high noon to the Aaron Burr's of the world.

Vision

Let's say somebody, or somebodies, were mimicking your every action behind you.  First of all these somebodies don't sound like some buddies but obviously it's nothing about which to get riled.  In fact the go-getter wouldn't even notice as the go-getter never looks back, only ahead.

Buffalo Dip

There will be occasions that you may have committed yourself to bring Buffalo Dip but didn't get around to making it.  This dipping of your Buffalo Dip responsibilities is referred to as the Buffalo Dip Dip.  The go-getter has situational awareness though and if they don't come through on bringing Buffalo Dip for a poker game they refer to it, or rather the lack of it, as Bluffalo Dip.

Demographics

Displaying demographics in a visually appealing fashion is a great way to draw attention to key statistical data.  Of course finding the best way to display this data can take time and several renditions.  The go-getter calls these practice runs demo demographics graphics.

Theaters

Movie theaters rely heavily on concession revenue to stay in business.  In fact the industry has even worked "eat" and "ate"into theater to subliminally drive patrons to the concession stand.  The go-getter realizes this but it doesn't matter; movie theater popcorn is the best popcorn.

Paths

With so many ways to get to the Metro from the office everyone has their own path.

What does the well connected go-getter and a person with poor eyesight have in common?

Lots of contacts.

Opportunity

When one door closes another door opens.  Sometimes when one door opens the opportunity arises for the go-getter to go-grocery shopping.

Be Vocal

Being vocal is critical to long term success.  The go-getter knows that when something goes awry the quiet one takes the fall.

Drive.

Excited About Work!

The go-getter is almost always excited about their work.  And that’s great!  This is not to be confused with ex-cited work though.  Ex-cited work is defined as any piece of work, generally articles or publications, that was cited by another publication but new facts lead to the original piece of work to be debunked, and therefore, no longer cited by the secondary work (perhaps leading to what is commonly known as a “runaway ex-citing” if that secondary work is cited by a tertiary work, etc).  The go-getter wants their work to be exciting; not ex-cited. 

Use of Backstories

To understand someone's perspective it is sometime's necessary to know their backstory.  In order to help others gain your perspective faster you should have a concise backstory ready to go upon request.  The go-getter always has their backstory at the ready and should feel that it is reasonable to request others to share their backstory in larger groups with absolutely no warning.
